Microsoft Says All Windows Phone 8.1 Devices to Get Lumia Denim Update This Month

Microsoft India on Monday confirmed that all Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 will get Lumia Denim update by the end of this month.
Replying to users on Twitter, the company noted that Lumia Denim update for Lumia 520 is already available in India, "and will roll out to all Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 by the end of this month."
Although the announcement seems for India only - as it came from Microsoft's India Twitter account - it is likely that the same is applicable for other regions as well.

The Lumia Denim update includes the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, which brings features such as Cortana, Live folders, Apps Corner, SMS merge and forwarding, Snooze Times, Consumer VPN, and Internet Explorer improvements. The update also adds certain exclusive features to Lumia devices, such as bringing the Lumia Camera app to select devices (Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, Lumia 1520, Lumia 830), and other camera improvements, apart from the Glance screen, and Hey Cortana voice activation (only on Lumia 930 and Lumia Icon).
Last week, Microsoft released a preview of Windows 10 for phones, the forthcoming major update to its OS for mobile devices. The first build of Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones supports limited number of devices including the Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730, and Lumia 830.
Announcing the news, Microsoft's Engineering General Manager, Gabriel Aul, in a blog post said, "This is the earliest publicly available preview we've ever done for Windows on phones. This preview is still very much under development and you're going to see some rough edges. We're sharing it with you so you can be with us at every step, and provide your feedback to help make this the best release ever-because it's the one made for you."
