While Windows 10 for phones is bringing a ton of new features to the platform, there is one recent leaked out image that garnered a lot of interest. This is to do with the vertical rectangular Live Tile that showed up on the smartphone of a Microsoft employee not too long ago.
Indeed nobody could confirm whether the vertical Live Tile existed and the owner somehow remained mum on the topic, which generated even more interest. But today, we finally have an answer.
Gabriel Aul, a team member of the Windows 10 for phone development, seems to have confirmed that it does exist, but there are some things that you need to know before you get excited.
Microsoft has enabled the vertical Live Tile in the current builds, but it is purely on an experimental basis. Secondly, it will be up to developers to configure their apps for the same. Meaning that only if a developer turns the feature on, will the Live Tile be expandable in that format.
Lastly, as odd as the vertical Live Tile sounds, Gabriel confirmed that we will see more of such strange options showing up in future builds (such as the giant Cortana Live Tile that appeared in the recent builds). Thing is, that it will be entirely up to the feedback that Microsoft gets, that will decide the fate of the vertical Live Tile.
